Start building your dreams with great books, exciting STREAM activities, and new experiences all summer long at Poudre River Public Libraries! The Summer Reading Challenge is free and open to all ages.  

 

WHO:
All ages! We have activities and reading challenges appropriate for babies to adults, for individuals to families and caregiver groups

WHAT:
Summer-long activities to promote curiosity and building dreams through reading, imagination, creativity, exploration, discovery, and more!

WHERE:
Poudre River Public Library District locations: Old Town Library, 201 Peterson St.; Council Tree Library, 2733 Council Tree Ave., #200; Harmony Library, 4616 S. Shields St. 

WHEN:
Signup begins May 22 for all programs and continues through August 20.

HOW:
Online registration from home or on one of the library computers: www.PoudreLibraries.org/srp.  In-person sign up at any of the three library locations.

The first 5,000 people who stop in one of the libraries after signing up for summer reading will receive a free gift!

 

FUN:
Reading Milestones  

Keep track of reading time in your online account or in the printed reading log. Complete 10 hours of reading, then pick up your prize (while supplies last) in the library through August 20.

Once you’ve finished 10 hours…keep reading! Reach milestone reading levels of 25, 50, 75, or 100 hours and help build a Building Dreams Community Tower of pom-poms at the libraries! Let’s build to the sky!

Readers who reach 100+ hours of summer reading (and babies and toddlers with 25+ hours of reading) by August 20 will be invited to a special Power Readers’ Club event at the end of summer. All hours must be submitted by August 20 so event details can be mailed to Power Readers prior to the event.

 

STREAM Activities (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Math)

Individuals who do one activity in each STREAM category on the reading log will be entered up to six times in a special drawing for prizes at the end of the summer. Activity suggestions are listed in the reading logs and in individual and family online summer reading accounts. 

STREAM stickers for the reading log will be available at the library; online users may record their activities in their summer reading accounts to receive online certificates.

Start building your dreams with great books, exciting STREAM activities, and new experiences all summer long at Poudre River Public Libraries! The Summer Reading Challenge is free and open to all ages.  

 

WHO:
All ages! We have activities and reading challenges appropriate for babies to adults, for individuals to families and caregiver groups

WHAT:
Summer-long activities to promote curiosity and building dreams through reading, imagination, creativity, exploration, discovery, and more!

WHERE:
Poudre River Public Library District locations: Old Town Library, 201 Peterson St.; Council Tree Library, 2733 Council Tree Ave., #200; Harmony Library, 4616 S. Shields St. 

WHEN:
Signup begins May 22 for all programs and continues through August 20.

HOW:
Online registration from home or on one of the library computers: www.PoudreLibraries.org/srp.  In-person sign up at any of the three library locations.

The first 5,000 people who stop in one of the libraries after signing up for summer reading will receive a free gift!

 

FUN:
Reading Milestones  

Keep track of reading time in your online account or in the printed reading log. Complete 10 hours of reading, then pick up your prize (while supplies last) in the library through August 20.

Once you’ve finished 10 hours…keep reading! Reach milestone reading levels of 25, 50, 75, or 100 hours and help build a Building Dreams Community Tower of pom-poms at the libraries! Let’s build to the sky!

Readers who reach 100+ hours of summer reading (and babies and toddlers with 25+ hours of reading) by August 20 will be invited to a special Power Readers’ Club event at the end of summer. All hours must be submitted by August 20 so event details can be mailed to Power Readers prior to the event.

Community Vehicles Day @ Library Park

Come experience up close a variety of trucks, police cruisers, ambulances, cement mixers, and other important community vehicles in and around Library Park for children and adults of all ages, rain or shine. Browse, tour and talk to the owners and operators of the wonderful machines that make our lives easier and safer. Bring your camera; there will be plenty of photo opportunities with the vehicles.

6/12 - Harmony Library Kid Zone: Shoe Box City

Come to the library to think about what goes into planning a city or town, then build it! 6/19 - Council Tree Library Kid Zone: Bubble Science

6/26 - Old Town Kid Zone: Cartooning with Kal

Kal Kallaugher of The Economist Magazine introduces kids to cartooning. Following the one-hour workshop, parents/caregivers are invited to a "mini art show" of the kids' work and to meet and visit with Kal. Workshop is offered in cooperation with Off the Hook Arts SummerFest. For kids ages 6-9 years. Registration required. Babysitting 101

Teens (age 12-up) learn top-notch babysitting skills at this fun and informative Babysitting 101 program. Find out how to do special crafts with young children; how to select books for them and how to read aloud well; how to find babysitting jobs and promote your service; first aid, emergency, and CPR basics; and what books and other materials the library offers that will help you to improve your skills. Each participant will receive a workbook with babysitting tips and information covered in the program to take home. Teens will receive certification that they have attended Babysitting 101.

 

Parents/guardians must complete a permission form for their sons'/daughters' attendance at this program.

How do slime and science go together? Come to our science fun program to find out. Be ready for some messy activities with liquids, goops and solutions.
